The Long-term Report is useful for evaluating the historical performance of a fund. Data in this report is current to the end of the previous month.
You can sort the data in a column by clicking on the column heading. Click once to sort in ascending order; click again to sort in descending order.
All returns greater than one year are calculated as annual compound returns.
Statistics show the return of the fund for the given time period and do not reflect the effects of sales charges or taxes. Management Expense Ratio (MER) is deducted from the prices that fund companies report to GLOBEfund, provided that the fund, or fund company, is a member of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC). For these funds, MER has been accounted for in the returns shown in reports and charts.
Below is a description of some of the data shown in this report:
5-Star Rating - The Globefund 5-Star Ratings, based on a system developed by Algorithmics Inc., provide a simple rating for most mutual funds in Canada. Funds are ranked from one to five stars, with the top ranked funds getting five stars and the lowest ranked funds getting one star. Click here for more information.
Volatility - a measure of investment risk which varies significantly
among asset classes. For example, Money Market funds are much less volatile
than Canadian Equity funds. Within each asset class, globefund.com assigns a
volatility classification to each fund. Starting with the most volatile funds
in the class, the top five percent are assigned a classification of high (HI), the
next 20 percent are above average (AV+), the next 25 percent are average (AV),
the next 25 percent are below average (AV-), and the final 25 percent are low
(LO). For each fund on the Long-term report, an abbreviation of
the asset class is shown followed by the volatility classification. Here is a
list of the asset class categories and their abbreviations:
