About the Bond Reports - Overview: This report provides an up to date overview of each selected bond.


Issuer: Click the issuer name (when underlined) to view a company snapshot. These snapshots provide a brief description of the issuer, including earnings, sector and contact information. Click the column heading to order the results by issuer in descending order, click the heading again to view in ascending order.

Bond Type: This is the type of bond determined by the status of the issuer. These could be government (federal, provincial or municipal) or corporate bonds depending on the issuing body. Click the column heading to order the results by bond type in descending order, click the heading again to view in ascending order.

Series: The bond series is the code that distinguishes bonds issued by the same organization from one another. Each series is unique with different collateral. Click the column heading to order the results by bond series in descending order, click the heading again to view in ascending order.

Coupon Rate: This is the expressed rate of of interest income paid by the bond's issuer. Click the column heading to order the results by coupon rate in descending order, click the heading again to view in ascending order.

Coupon Frequency: This is the number of interest payments made annually. Click the column heading to order the results by coupon frequency in descending order, click the heading again to view in ascending order.

Maturity: This is the date on which the unpaid principal balance of the bond becomes due. Click the column heading to order the results by maturity date in descending order, click the heading again to view in ascending order.

Price: The current market price of the bond. Click the column heading to order the results by price in descending order, click the heading again to view in ascending order.

Yield: This is the measure of the return on an investment and is shown as a percentage. A bond yield is a complicated calculation, involving annual interest payments plus amortizing the difference between its current market price and par value over the life of the bond. Click the column heading to order the results by yield in descending order, click the heading again to view in ascending order.

Yield Type: Click the column heading to order the results by yield type in descending order, click the heading again to view in ascending order. The "M" indicates the yield to maturity while the "C" indicates the price at the call date

Duration: This concept measures bond price volatility by measuring the length of a bond; it is expressed in years. The longer the duration of a bond, the greater the price volatility. In general, the duration rises with maturity, falls with the frequency of coupon payments, and falls as the yield increases. High yields reduce the present value of the cash flow. Duration is the present value weighted average of all cash flow (coupon payments and principal) from a bond. Duration allows for the comparison of bonds of different maturities and coupon rates.
