Options Chain Report in GOLD Tracker

During trading hours (weekdays, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.), options and stock data is delayed 15 minutes. Click the underlined Option Symbol for a detailed quote.

To view all columns of the report, click the Detach link in the top-right corner of the Options Chain window to enlarge the display.

The descriptions of selected report columns and features follow.

Expiry date:
The month in which the opiton expires. Use the pull-down list to select a different expiry date.
Str Price (Strike Price):
The stated price per share for which underlying stock may be purchased (in the case of a call) or sold (in the case of a put) by the option holder upon exercise of the option contract.
Last:
The time and price of the last trade made for option contract. Note: Options quotes do not reflect lot size. A single options contract typically covers 100 shares of the underlying security. For example if an option contract is quoted at $20, the actual option would cost $2000 ($20 x 100 shares).
Bid:
The price you will get if you were to write (sell) an option.
Ask:
The price you have to pay to purchase an option.
Vol (Volume):
The number of option contracts that have traded on the current day.
Op Int (Open Interest):
The total number of derivative contracts traded that have not yet been liquidated either by an offsetting derivative transaction or by delivery.
Near-the-money shortcut button
Equity and index option chains feature consolidated quotes for all options symbols and strike prices for the underlying security for the selected month. Chains with numerous strike prices (e.g., chains for SPX-I or QQQ-A) offer a vertical scroll bar for the purpose of navigating to higher strike prices. A second navigation option is the near-the-money shortcut button (insert two images here), which is located to the right of the "Puts" column header. When the current price of the underlying security is not visible on the chain, simply click the near-the-money shortcut button to display the current price of the underlying security. Near-the-money strike prices will then appear above and below the current price. Note, however, that when the strike price is visible on the chain, clicking the shortcut button will not reposition the current price to the centre of the chain. In our experience, the shortcut button works better during market hours when quotes are continually updated. It may take a few moments for the shortcut button to work once it has been clicked.

Default option chain display settings: Clicking the near-the-money shortcut button toggles between two images: and . Clicking the button changes the default display setting for the options chain, as outlined in the table below:

(Note that the Tracker automatically remembers the last option chain default display setting viewed. Clicking the vertical scrollbar resets the display setting so that the lowest strike price is displayed by default.)

When is shown… …clicking the option button O from the Portfolio tab or Quote screen returns an option chain with the current price of the underlying security displayed by default. Near-the-money options will be displayed above and below the current price.
